Hi there...

I’m Janet Fougere a personal trainer, passionate about establishing a healthier community.

Less than one third of the population is physically active, I believe that some people want to be healthier but some need help getting started. There are many wonderful benefits to exercise: increased energy & sense of well being, a body and mind that is stronger, healthier & more flexible. Did you know that many research studies have shown that physical activity can decrease some of the effects that were once thought to be part of the normal aging process? What are you waiting for?

I can help with body composition...

through fitness training, nutritional councilling, and unique programming. I provide professional services and encouragement to help you meet your goals. My skills can help you transform the thought of an active lifestyle into an action plan. 

I can design an effective program for you, customized to your budget, time commitment, fitness level and specific interests. Sessions available in individual or group settings.

In my late 20’s, I was 8 dress sizes larger & smoked a package of cigarettes a day. During the next twenty years of my life, I got involved in physical fitness in a big way, earned a purple belt in Karate and placing in several competitions. I’ve taught cardio kick boxing group classes. Today my exercise routine includes strength training, cardiovascular training (running and/or interval training), Yoga & stretching, plyometrics & functional training.

How it works

We'll meet to discuss your needs, goals and limitiations. During the first session, an assessment of your posture and fitness level will be completed.  I'll also test for muscle imbalances, instabilities and compensations.  We’ll review the importance of setting goals and scheduling activity.

I’ll develop a program that's customized for your body, objectives and budget.  Your program will also addresses posture and muslce imbalances if applicable.  Over time you should expect to progress steadily from one fitness level to the next regardless of your current level of activity.
  
We’ll meet periodically to monitor progress, the extent of my involvement is driven entirely by you, you can manage the fitness program on your own, or involve me monthly, weekly or more often -- what ever suits your needs.
  
Many of my clients like the fact that they can execute their program from the comfort of their own home, with minimal investment: mat, stability ball, weights or resistance bands and a mat; without inflated gym fees.
  
I offer an in-home private studio equipped with an Infrared Sauna -- proven to provide heat therapy benefits: relieves soreness, aches and pains; speeds muscle recovery, stress relief and improved skin tone.

I’ve struggled with my weight my whole life and I’ve tried to lose weight many many times. I’ve had gym memberships and trainers and nothing ever stuck and in fact I continually and consistently gained weight. I’d had enough and decided to do something to really change and lose weight for good. I’ve been seeing Janet since March and have lost over 40 pounds and I feel great. Janet Fougere, has become a friend and for the last year has been my personal trainer.   I have struggled with my weight all my life and find it extremely challenging to gain muscle.  At the time I became Janet’s client I was maintaining a reasonable weight and was in good physical condition, training five to six times per week.  However I had hit a plateau and wanted to take my workouts to the next level. 

Janet designed a program for me that incorporated free weight and cardio training.  I had read of the benefits of free weight training but did not possess the knowledge to effectively undertake this type of training on my own.   I will admit the program that Janet created for me was very challenging but produced very noticeable changes in my physique.  My muscle tone increased, I became noticeably stronger and my body fat has reduced from 23% to 22.5% since she started training me.   Janet has since created multiple programs for me each incorporating various techniques and exercises that fit my goals and lifestyle.

Janet possesses very strong interpersonal skills and listens to her clients ensuring that she understands their needs before providing nutritional advice or designing a training program.  Janet readily shares her knowledge, demonstrates each exercise, verifies form and patiently provides guidance to ensure that the greatest benefits will be achieved by the client.  I have learned much from Janet, including the criticality of proper form and the sequence the exercises are executed in.  Janet has corrected my form and sequencing in multiple instances allowing me to realize the full benefits of the workouts resulting in more rapid growth in strength and muscle tone.

In closing, Janet has proven herself to be professional, caring and knowledgeable in the areas of nutrition, physical training and skin care.  I would highly recommend her to others wanting to improve their overall health and well being.   At 38 years old I am in the best shape of my life.  I feel strong, healthy and proud of what Janet has, and will continue to help me accomplish.
